Muncie bookstore T.I.S. bought out by Gameday Spirit, now named The Cardinal Fanstore

As most students do at the beginning of the school year, sophomore architecture major Allysa Britting set out to purchase textbooks before courses started. She went to the Ball State Bookstore first but said the lines were long, and she didn’t see too many books on the shelves, so she decided to go to the T.I.S. College Bookstore in the Village, only to discover it was no longer a bookstore.

In April 2021, the company Gameday Spirit bought the T.I.S. College Bookstore in Muncie and rebranded it

Ball State Counseling Center staff therapist discusses the Self-Care Challenge and stress coping mechanisms

Editor's Note: This article previously incorrectly stated the Counseling Center does not offer counseling in the summers. It has since been updated.

Tests, essays, projects, work and social activities — the list goes on. College students deal with a number of things that can cause stress every day, and pressures from school are among the top reasons for stress, according to the Jed Foundation. Lila Fierek is a sophomore news journalism major and writes “[Hey There Duh-Lila]” for The Daily News. Her views do not necessarily reflect those of the newspaper.

At 15 years old, I took my first job at a local ice cream shop. The starting pay — $7.25 an hour, also Indiana’s minimum wage — made sense for a 15-year-old girl who couldn’t drive and didn't have to pay for everything. My parents gave me money for food, and I wasn’t one to shop or buy things often. I had a school, school, school men

Planetarium Director Dayna Thompson already had the Astronomy Slam for 2020 planned out when the pandemic hit. Instead of having it in the Charles W. Brown Planetarium as expected, YouTube was their backup location.

"I was like okay, we have to do it," Thompson said. "I bought the trophy."

This year, the third annual Astronomy Slam will be held at Ball State's Charles W. Brown Planetarium on Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m. This year is the first year since the pandemic that the planetarium has been able t

About Me

I strive to provide information to help people make informed decisions.

I was born and raised in Indiana. I am currently a junior at Ball State University. I am getting my Bachelor's degree in journalism and telecommunications. I also have minors in creative writing and entrepreneurship.

The only way to learn is to keep doing something new, and, if you're lucky, learning with people who really know how to do it.
